We have had a fantastic day learning all about Remembrance Day. We started off by discussing why people wear a poppy in November time. We then worked hard to create a poem linked to poppies. After break we created beautiful pieces of art work inspired by the artist Georgia O'Keeffe. We also did many other poppy crafts: paper plates, colouring, badges, lanterns, playdough poppies, a huge poppy made out of lego and poppies made of of recycle materials. We also worked together with Yellow Class to create a fantastic soldier covered in poppies which Miss Angus was very impressed with! I told the children how on Sunday at 11 o'clock a 2 minutes silence will be held so we can remember those soldiers who fought so hard. At the end of the day we talked about how the soldiers were brave and how wearing a poppy is a sign of respect. I was extremely proud of every member of the class. They showed respect, understanding and love during all our discussions and activities.
