Today Fraser Gunn from the RNLI came into school to talk to the children about the charity and how to stay safe at the beach. We will be making biscuits on Monday and selling them on Tuesday to raise some money for the RNLI.
Science Posters. Today we made posters all linked with the 5 animal groups. We had to remember all the important information. Miss Angus was very very impressed!!
We had the most amazing time at Weston! We walked along the Grand Pier, had lunch on the beach, played in the sand and had a special ice lolly. In the afternoon we went to the SeaQuarium and had a fantastic talk about rock pools. We also looked at different sea creatures. I was super impressed with their behaviour and we enjoyed every minute of it , even when there was a little spot of rain! On the coach back some of us fell fast asleep! Thank you so much to all the helpers and to the parents for providing such lovely lunches. Miss Angus
We had so much fun at Cleeve Year 1 Multi Skills. We came 2nd, 3rd and 9th! Miss Angus was so proud of us all. We showed determination, team work and fantastic sport skills.
In D.T. we made Pop Up cards. We looked at different types of Pop Up books and then thought of different seaside designs. We then made one either using a 'bench' fold or a 'V' fold. Miss Angus was very impressed with them all.
World Cup Day! We had a fantastic day learning about the history of the World Cup, predicting who would win, learning about all the teams and designing our own mascot.
World Oceans Day. Today we had a very thoughtful afternoon talking about our oceans and how plastic is affecting them. We looked at a photo of a seahorse with a cotton bud. We talked about how we can reduce the amount of plastic into our oceans.
Kick Rounders. Today we worked together with Purple Class and completed our Intra Sports Competition! We had great fun in the sun and showed determination, team work and lots of perseverance!
Today we went on a tree hunt and looked at the different leaves. We discussed the difference between a evergreen tree and a deciduous tree. What is the difference?
We had the most amazing trip to Simpsons Fish and Chip shop! We got to look behind the scenes, make fishcakes, look at lots of different ship and finally eat our fishcakes and chips. We loved it so much and learnt so much too!

Cress investigation. How does cress grow best? We had 4 pots of cress seed, one with water and light, one with light and no water, one with no water and no light and one with no light and water. We will be looking at what happens over the next week.
Science investigation: the petals have started to go blue with the ink in the water!
Science Investigation. We out some food dye in water and put some carnations in the water. We are going to see what happens to the plant.
Our sunflowers are starting to grow! Miss Angus took them home over the bank holiday weekend and gave them plenty of water and sunlight.

This afternoon we have been exploring the school allotment. It was great fun, we looked at all the different plants which are starting to grow. We saw strawberry plants, onions, herbs, carrots and many more.
Today Year 1 went to the synagogue in Cheltenham. We learnt lots of interesting information.
In art we have been making sea collages using ripped up pieces of paper. This is the first part.
In maths we have been learning about length and measuring how long objects are in cubes.

We had a huge surprise today... the Easter Bunny came to school and left a letter and some treats!

Today we went to Kenya- well in our imaginations we did!!! We carried out different activities , weaving baskets, dancing to African music, going to the market and finally carrying buckets of water. As one child said " we are very very lucky to live where we live, I wouldn't like to walk for 4 hours to get some water from the river. " It was a fantastic experience and we all learnt lots.
We have been using the laptops to type some sentences for our non fiction books.
Values Day. Today we learnt about the value of forgiveness. We talked about the story of the Prodigal Son. We also created lots of artwork linked to the value. We had a fantastic day... I hope you like all of the things the children have taken home!
To finish our science week we learnt about 2 very important scientists Mary Annying and Stephen Hawking. We also made our own animal and worked out whether it was a herbivore, carnivore or omnivore.
More array making! Miss Angus was super impressed!!
OH NO... the labels from the 'poo' samples have fallen off!! Today we became scientists and investigated, discussed and recorded what was in each of our ' poo' samples. We had to work out whether the poo was from a herbivore, carnivore or omnivore animal. We had great fun and Miss Angus was super impressed with our scientific knowledge.
British Science Week . Today we started off this amazing week by making some ' Fake' animal poo. Each group had an envelope which told us which type of animal poo we would make... a herbivore , carnivore or omnivore. We then had to think about what would need to go into our 'poo'. We became great scientists and explored what would need to go in each 'poo'.
We have been making arrays to help us solve multiplication sentences.

World Book Day... what a morning we have had! We loved looking at all the different costumes, thank you parents for making them all look fantastic! We had characters ranging from... Harry Potter, fairies, the tin man, the gingerbreadman, Willie Wonka, Fantastic Mr Fox, Belle , Spiderman and many many more. Miss Angus was an Umpa Lumpa! We also went on a book hunt! Hope you all enjoyed the snow in the afternoon!
Our amazing fabric weaving so far! We did find it quite tricky at times but Miss Angus was pleased with our perseverance!
We have been learning about the 5 different animal groups- mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians. We looked at different animals and had to sort them into the correct groups. We was tricky but we persevered!
We have had a fantastic day drumming with Alex! We learnt lots of new songs and how to play the drums. Miss Angus was so impressed!
We have been learning how to weave. It was quite difficult but we persevered and the results are fantastic.
We had a fantastic first session learning about the skills of Hockey with Mr Green.
Marvelous maths. We made 3D shapes, shape pictures, created patterns on Peg Board and played Snakes and Ladders.
Our printing day. We have had a fantastic day learning about Adinkra printing from Ghana. We made our own prints as well as using some Adinkra stamps. Miss Angus was so pleased with our wonderful art work.
Science. We have been learning about what animals eat. We have learnt the words herbivore, carnivore and omnivore. See if you child can remember what they mean and the actions we have learnt.
We made 3D shapes out of marshmallows and cocktail sticks. We also used a net to make a shape. We had great fun and learnt lots!!
Safer Internet Day. We learnt about how to stay safe online and we had the chance to see Webster the spider!
We have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes. They fell out of Miss Angus' bag so we had to sort them into 2 groups. Look out for our 3D shapes we are going to make with marshmallows!
Today Blue Class came to see our wonderful Handa's Hen book that we have written. The children listened so carefully and we were proud of our fantastic writing.
