Y6 go back in time as evacuees!

Year 6 had a fantastic day as evacuees travelling on the Gloucestershire Steam Railway. They handled real artefacts, sang songs on their journey, re enacted what it was like to be in an air raid shelter and listened to a real evacuee’s recount of when she had to leave London.

Year 6 had the chance to see and feel real ox, pig and sheep hearts on Friday. They were excellent at recognising the four different chambers, the valves and the thick muscle walls. The children also got to use a real stethoscope, learn about ECG graphs and take part in fun experiments!

Y6 take part in STEMWORKS!

STEMWORKS have been working with Year 6 today taking part in the K’Nex Challenge. Children first learned about different aspects of engineering as a career. Using their STEM skills combined with teamwork and problem solving they created some ‘cracking contraptions’ inspired by Wallace Gromit and the engineers and Renishaw. Congratulations to the sub finalists Amelie and Daisy in 6SF and Katie and Dylan in 6HR!

Y6SF had a fab afternoon at Waitrose Store. We enjoyed a cookery class, making savoury pinwheels from scratch and then we investigated sugars in everyday products and healthy alternatives.

Jonathan’s Jungle Roadshow visited Y6 on Friday and they spent a fantastic day encountering a range of rainforest creatures. They also learnt about so much science based on the animals’ habitats, adaptations, classification and reproduction. You’ll really enjoy these photos!

Well, what a week it was - from raft building to Giant Swing, Abseiling to Challenge Course, we had a go at everything. Our Christian Values of Respect, Love, Perseverance and Responsibility shone through and we all came back with new memories and friendships.
