Junior School Music Curriculum
Our music curriculum provides life enhancing experiences and encourages open mindedness to different genres of music. It provides a chance to connect with others in music-specific collaborative skills. Children learn to sing or play their part in balance with others so their contribution to the music enhances the overall quality of the performance. It can create a sense of group identity encouraging creativity, experimentation and exploration. Music requires perseverance in order to grapple with the challenges, frustrations and joys of learning to make music.
We follow the Charanga Music School Scheme – this scheme provides teachers with week-by-week lessons for each year group in the school, from ages 4–11. The Scheme supports all the requirements of the national curriculum and is absolutely in line with published Ofsted guidance.
