Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus
The 2017-2022 Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education has at its core, the ‘Principal Aim for RE’. That is, ‘to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living.'
At Prestbury St Mary’s Federation, we follow the Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. Through the principles of the Prestbury Learner, we aim to create learning opportunities in Religious Education that will inspire, enthuse and motivate children in their exploration of religion. We do this by creating meaningful opportunities to enable learners to ‘dig deeper’ into the key questions that explore the ultimate questions that concern religions and faith. Through this, they can understand and explore their own faith and what it means to be part of Team Prestbury, their local community and their place in the wider world.
