Year Four have enjoyed a creative and productive term. In Art, we practised and used several techniques – tracing, mark-making, home-made scraffito, wax relief, water colour and layering – to create beautiful abstract ‘fantasy’ art. A Hindu visitor, Daxa, visited to help us learn more about the Hindu faith.
In PE, we have been learning and practising yoga moves and positions to help build our strength, balance and control as well as exploring the link between our physical and mental health. In music we have begun to revise and consolidate our understanding of music code and practise rhythm skills.
In English, we have used a short animated film about a dream-giver to inspire our own fantasy stories as well as looking at specific techniques to help us write poetry. Our focus in Geography has been rivers and the context for gaining knowledge and skills regarding maps.

Y4 Hindu Visitor
As part of their RE topic – What does it mean to be a Hindu in Britain today? – Y4 enjoyed a visit from Daxa Mehta. Daxa bought in lots of Hindu artefacts and pictures to help consolidate the children’s learning about Hindu worship and practices. The children had prepared (and impromptu) questions which Daxa was able to answer from personal experience and beliefs.
