Prestbury St Mary's Federation Spelling Scheme
At Prestbury St Mary's Federation, we teach spelling using the Unlocking Spelling Scheme (part of the Unlocking Letters and Sounds Phonics Scheme we use).
Below are the spelling plans for each year group. All classes are beginning with Spring Term 1 from week beginning 2nd February so you can support your child with learning the spelling rules at home. Please continue to ask your child about their spelling as teachers may adapt the plan slightly according to the needs of the class.
All spelling rules and examples will be taught in school. The new scheme is not about children learning words in a list, but learning spelling rules and applying them in their daily writing tasks. However, the Government do have Statutory Spelling Lists containing words that children must learn. We will be teaching these in school and you can also support your child by working on the list at home. Please see the lists below:
