Representing number 1

Throughout the year we will explore one number in explicit detail focusing on its value. Today we focused on number 1. We discussed what one meant to everyone and then we hunted around the classroom to find lots of resources that represented 1 before adding them to her group's poster. We all looked at each other's posters and explained the reasoning behind their choices. I was very pleased to hear children identifying its value on the number line.
