In RE today we thought about The Bible and its significance for Christians. I read them the story of David, the shepherd boy who went on to fight, and kill, Goliath. The children were fascinated by the story and engaged in some great discussions about what enemies and armies are, who is allowed to fight and the reasons behind it, friendships, perseverance, love and we also spoke briefly about slavery as Goliath wanted to fight others in order to gain slaves. We decided to act the story out. Everyone had a role and really got involved! There were cheers, boos and passionate shouting, not to mention super facial expressions throughout. The children then went onto colouring pictures of David and Goliath as well as making stick puppets to re-enact the story.
